UoY community update
Be a Good Neighbour: Do you park locally?
Recent issues with parking in our neighbouring area of Osbaldwick have resulted in a number of complaints from local residents and Councillors. We're asking all members of the University community to please consider before you park if you could be causing congestion or inconvenience to members of our local community.
If in doubt, ask yourself: would emergency vehicles struggle to pass me here? Could I be creating a safety risk for anyone wanting to cross the road?
Each and every University journey is different, and so are the tools needed along the way. If you find your circumstances or needs change, there are a range of options available to help your programme adapt alongside you - from needing to extend an individual deadline, to changing your mode of attendance or programme entirely.
Not sure you’re on the right path? Find out more about the options available to you, as well as who can support you through them.
Starting to write your dissertation can feel like an overwhelming step - but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Join the Academic Skills Community this semester for a series of workshops to help break down postgraduate dissertation essentials into manageable chunks. Starting with a general introduction to PGT dissertations, the team will cover writing an introduction and literature review, to a methods and results section, and finally, the discussion and conclusion.
Research suggests that when we play to our strengths, we feel happier, more confident, more resilient and successful - but how do we find out what these are? Join the York Strengths team for an online (all students) or in-person (first year undergraduate only) development session to discover more about yourself and your skill set, what activities and careers might be best suited to you, and how you can present these in interviews and applications.
Running from Monday 4 to Friday 8 March, you're invited to join us for a dedicated week of activities, events and workshops to raise awareness about environmental and social issues. Why not come along? Book your place at a range of Sustainability Week events.
The Annual Student Members’ meeting will take place this Thursday 22 February 2024, offering students the chance to speak to, and hear from, their Sabbatical Officers directly about their work. This year, the meeting will also involve a vote on articles that will shape the new single Students’ Union, as well as the new Sabbatical Team. All students are invited to attend.
