Coronavirus: update summary

Covid testing
All students (and staff) making use of University facilities can and should take rapid results Covid-19 tests twice a week, three days apart. This is now very easy with home testing kits available, which you can collect from pharmacies and test centres or have delivered to your home.

1. Mental Health Awareness Week

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme this year focuses on the role nature can play in protecting and supporting our mental health. See our top tips on bringing nature into your everyday and sign up for events to mark the week.

2. Make friends and learn something new

Our International Conversation Afternoons are an opportunity for people from many different backgrounds and cultures to chat, share ideas and opinions, and make new friends. Each week there is a particular topic to discuss, with suggested questions sent to participants in advance, but you are free to discuss anything you want. 3. Nominate for the Student Volunteering Awards

Our Student Volunteering Awards celebrate the achievements and lasting impact of student volunteers. You can nominate yourself or others to recognise contributions made to the community. Find out more about student volunteering and complete the Volunteering Awards Nomination Form by Sunday 16 May.

4. Push through procrastination

Still not started that piece of work? Read our tips on beating procrastination and learn practical techniques at our ‘Pushing through procrastination’ online workshop on Thursday 13 May. Book your place at the workshop.

5. York Festival of Ideas bookings now open

Attend over 150 free events at York Festival of Ideas including talks, panel discussions, performances and walking trails. The programme includes a special tenth anniversary celebration day on Monday 7 June featuring economist Mariana Mazzucato, epidemiologist Kate Pickett, children’s author Michael Morpurgo, and a new piece by composer and violinist Anna Phoebe exploring women’s creativity.
