Leaving the University

Do you think you might want to leave University, withdraw from your programme or quit your programme before it would normally finish?

Can we help?

If you have any doubt about whether leaving is the right thing to do then please seek advice to help you with your decision – there may be options you have not considered or do not know about.

Even if you are sure about leaving you may need information or advice about student funding, tuition fees, accommodation, future study, transferring programmes etc.

The main contacts for advice in this situation are:

  • Your supervisor in your department (either or both supervisors if you are taking a combined programme)
  • The Student Advisers in the Student Hub, to make an appointment: email - student-hub@york.ac.uk or call 01904 324140
  • Registry Services: email - registry@york.ac.uk or call 01904 322136

If you are sure you have all the information you need and want to tell the University that you are leaving please fill in the appropriate form below:

When your withdrawal has been processed a letter will be sent to your home address to confirm this.

If you are living in University accommodation you will need to follow the Request to Vacate process.

If you decide to leave the University, you can find information about fees in the Student Tuition Fee Refund Policy (PDF , 216kb).

If you have any questions about the Leavers Form please contact: registry@york.ac.uk
