This module provides a broad foundation to develop new concepts and designs for AI-centric creative media systems. A variety of exemplary applications of AI in creative practice will be showcased, highlighting their key functional traits as well as their system architectures and main AI techniques, algorithms, and components. Application areas include games, social media and other forms of interactive media, film and television, music, theatre, fashion, architecture, art, etc.

To provide a broad view of artificial intelligence, presenting essential approaches to its modelling
To introduce emblematic examples of AI-centric systems and projects deployed to a variety of creative practices - including games, social media and other forms of interactive media, film and television, music, theatre, fashion, architecture, art, etc. - as inspiration and catalyst for future developments
To discuss the impact systems and projects have or could have on the design of new forms of interaction and artistic expression, the creative practice workflows, and on the end-users
To present the system architectures and AI techniques employed in the implementation of such systems and discuss possible developments
To provide a technical foundation for informed debates on what can constitute machine intelligence
be able to explain current uses of AI in creative practice, including games, social media and other forms of interactive media, film and television, music, theatre, fashion, architecture, art, etc.
be able to analyse and critically evaluate the potential impact of AI-centric creative media systems on production workflows as well as on the end users
be able to analyse and describe architectures and models of AI-centric creative media systems, as well as essential aspects of the AI techniques employed in their implementation
identify opportunities and generate new concepts and designs for new possible applications of AI in creative media and performance, sketching their technical architectures and justifying the selection of the proposed AI techniques
justify and critique choices of different methods and techniques in relation to creative practitioners’ and end users’ needs
engage in informed debates on discussions about what constitutes machine intelligence
