This module presents cutting-edge research on key sectors of the creative and cultural industries (CCIs), theatre, film, television, digital, music, visual arts, heritage and museums, and publishing. It will offer a critical and analytical platform to discuss contemporary issues affecting the sectors: digitisation, globalisation, sustainability, LGBTQ+ rights, cultural regeneration and decolonisation. It will provide you with the knowledge and practical critical skills to apply to analyses of real-world case studies of CCIs.

This module aims to:
• Determine and identify the main sectors and features of a range of creative industries as a phenomenon of contemporary societies
• Critically evaluate the roles and purposes of consumers/audiences, practitioners/professionals, and governments in creative industries environments
• Develop a critical understanding of key issues and developments within creative industries, such as digitisation, sustainability, LGBTQ+ rights, cultural regeneration and
globalisation.
By the end of this module you should be able:
• To understand the characteristics, contributions and challenges made by the various sectors in the creative and cultural industries.
• To critically engage in theoretical debates, and associated professional practices within the various creative and cultural industries
• To gain a critical overview of the practical engagement of creative industries practitioners, audiences and policy makers in key contemporary issues
