To provide an essential grounding in the principles and practice of picture finishing, and similarities and differences between finishing for film and for television
To develop and enhance a range of both creative and technical skills through an understanding of the underlying technical issues relating to professional picture finishing systems.
Upon completion of this module students are expected to be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of advanced video and digital film production picture finishing processes and how these can be applied to the creation of professionally produced media programmes.
Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between, and working knowledge of stages and processes involved in film and television picture finishing through the use of Non-Linear video Editing (NLE) systems in conjunction with Picture Finishing systems in an 'off-line/on-line' model
Support their creative output with comprehensive and reasoned technical documentation.
Demonstrate an understanding, and ability to use the core features of an industry-standard Picture Finishing system and related software for editing and mastering of film and television programmes.
