For the dissertation, students are expected to understand how to research a dissertation at advanced level (demonstrating archival and/or other original research) and be able to sustain a coherent argument over 20,000 words.

For the extended practical project students are expected to produce creative work (a play script or a production) which is of a professional standard. The reflective essay must demonstrate that the student has an informed understanding of how they would position their own work in relation to related contemporary playwrights, or directors or actors.
