Module aims
To develop advanced skills in the preparation and presentation of musical performance; to advance students' understanding of the principles of high-level instrumental study; to refine critical skills in relationship to instrumental performance; to prepare students for the presentation of a 30-minute recital (usually as a soloist with accompanist); to continue to develop self-awareness and discipline in setting and achieving specific goals; to develop skills of self-evaluation in relation to live performance.

Know how to work towards musical ideals, to take responsibility for musical judgement, and reflect on personal goals of good musicianship
Have developed further technical knowledge to recital stage
Continue to build teacher influences into practice and performance
Have developed repertoire to recital standard
Have developed strategies for coping with performance anxiety so that the recital can be adequately managed in this regard
To be conversant with issues surrounding programme planning, and to implement informed decision-making in selecting repertoire

Continue to develop skills of co-operation and self-motivation
Continue to hone organisational skills, and critique the development of routines to achieve specific goals over both the short and long term
