The module introduces information systems and their role in modern business. Including how information systems assist different levels of management with the efficient running of the business; by provided timely access to data produced by the organisation. How information systems can help prevent organisations being overwhelmed by the data that they create, and can instead process that data into useful information. The module also discusses the sweeping changes that have occurred within organisations by the Internet, and the digital integration of the enterprise, and the need to demonstrate the business value of information systems investments. Students on this course will be exposed to real-world systems, focusing on their relationships to organisations, management, business processes, strategy, and important ethical and social issues.

A comprehensive module assessment report is released to students immediately after the exam board (within 5 weeks of the exam). Written feedback on the group presentation is also provided to students after the exam board.
