This is a first-year module that focuses particularly on social and cultural issues in twentieth century Spain and Latin America. Through themes such as immigration, language diversity and human rights, students will attain fluency in written and oral forms of expression, and develop the ability to engage in critical thinking in the target language.
This module is also designed to support students in their transition to studying in a UK Higher Education environment by fully integrating relevant academic conventions into the learning and teaching process.

This module is intended to develop your language proficiency; to consolidate and expand your written and oral skills in order to achieve accurate and idiomatic expression, and sound comprehension of oral/aural material. This module will also lay the groundwork for the more advanced study of Spanish.

Oral commentary and dialogue within class on oral and written language work. Given immediately both to individuals and to group.
Written comments and mark on University scale given to individual students for practice work (i.e., essays, presentations, projects), with opportunity for individual consultation.
