This module aims to introduce students to the role of a registered nurse. It is designed to initiate students’ application of physiological, pharmacological, pathophysiological knowledge and psychosocial theory to nursing practice through the development and application of a range of nursing skills.
By the end of the module, students will be able to:
Demonstrate key skills for safe and effective nursing practice and reflect on your application of this within teams.
Reflect on development of therapeutic relationships and apply a range of assessment and communication strategies to your nursing practice.
Demonstrate the impact of pathophysiological processes on patient experience.
Reflect on formulation of therapeutic interventions through effective communication.
Summarise your ability and responsibility regarding potential safeguarding issues.
Demonstrate key concepts in the safe administration of medicines.
