Module summary

This module builds upon existing knowledge to provide an exciting study of key environmental science concepts across terrestrial, aquatic and atmospheric systems. We will focus on the occurrence and impacts of environmental pollutants as well as the analytical solutions to better understand their emission and distribution. The course will deliver both the theory and practical skills to better understand environmental contamination and the science that underpins it.

Module aims

This module provides an exciting study of key environmental and analytical science concepts across terrestrial, aquatic and atmospheric systems. It will focus on the key environmental processes, contamination and the analytical study of these systems. Module aims include:

  1. Examine key environmental processes and pollution of terrestrial, aquatic and atmospheric systems and

  2. Understand and apply analytical solutions to better understand environmental contamination.

This will provide the student with the skills necessary to both understand and critically interpret environmental data.

Module learning outcomes

On completion of this module a student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of key environmental processes across terrestrial, aquatic and atmospheric systems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the emissions and implications of environmental pollution
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the practical analytical skills needed to understand environmental processes and pollution.
