Guest tickets
Share the day with those you love.
Each graduand is guaranteed two guest tickets when registering for their ceremony, and has the option of requesting two additional tickets (subject to availability).
- Guest tickets are allocated either in Central Hall (where the ceremonies take place), or in our Live Screening Room (which broadcasts the events live on a large screen).
- If space remains in either venue after standard tickets have been allocated, additional tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis (based on registration date).
- Additional tickets may also be available on the day on a first come, first served basis, but this cannot be guaranteed.
You must specifically request guest tickets when you register and not assume that they will be allocated automatically.
Collecting guest tickets
Guest tickets should be collected by graduands on the day of their ceremony in James Reception.
You'll need to provide photo identification when collecting; guests cannot pick up their own tickets.
Please bear in mind that you will be asked to be seated in Central Hall 45 minutes before the start of your ceremony. Guest tickets not collected by this time will be redistributed.
We advise that you allow at least an hour to collect tickets (and your gown) before the seating call to give yourself plenty of time.
For health and safety purposes, we are required to have an accurate count of guest numbers, including babies and children, in both of our main spaces.
As such, all guests, including babies and children (even if they are sitting on an adult's knee), will require a ticket.
Graduands should include any babies or children when requesting the total number of tickets that they would like for their ceremony.
If you'd like to bring guests who require immigration permission to enter the UK, the Graduation Office can produce a letter explaining this as their purpose.
Letters can be obtained through the Your Study page on e:Vision once you have registered to attend your ceremony. (Click the 'Graduation Ceremony Visa Letter Request' link at the bottom of the graduation section.)
The University's Immigration Advice Service team are happy to deal with specialist queries about visa requirements.
