Professor Sunil Gupta is an Indian-born photographer whose work is known for its strong social and political commentary.

During a career spanning more than four decades, he has focused on race, migration and queer issues. His work is in many private and public collections including the Tokyo Museum of Photography, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Royal Ontario Museum, Tate, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. His latest book is We Were Here: Sexuality, Photography, and Cultural Difference, Selected Writings by Sunil Gupta. Sunil is a professorial fellow at UCA, Farnham, visiting lecturer at Kingston University and visiting tutor at the Royal College of Art, London. He was lead curator for the Houston Fotofest in 2018.
