Student Support Plans (SSPs) provide a personalised plan of adjustments so that students are not disadvantaged by a disability or condition. This could include having more time to complete assignments or providing access to materials in particular formats.
We want to ensure that SSPs are easy to access, are implemented effectively and provide a good experience for students (and staff too). The SSP Project was launched in January 2024 following a Disability Services review, looking at all aspects of the SSP process. The aim is to design a new system for implementation next academic year.
Students have already shared their time and experiences in the early stages of the project by either joining a working group or completing a Google form. Thank you - It’s really helpful to hear your views and in particular where you have had your own personal experiences of SSPs at the University.
Your comments and suggestions have helped us to document key issues and themes for the project to address and were incorporated into the new draft SSP process and the technical requirements for the new system.
In the next stages of the project, we will need student involvement looking at the content of the SSP itself and the guidance for students and staff which will support the new process. We want the new SSP process to be built with and for you, and really value your opinions.
Whether you have an SSP or not, we’d love to hear your views. If you’re interested in being part of one of our working groups, want to share your thoughts more flexibly (e.g. online surveys) or just want to be kept up to date on progress, please complete this form:
