Private housing advice

Posted on 29 October 2024

Whether you’re seeking private accommodation or currently living in it, we’re here to support you.

The Student Hub offers various free support, including contract checking, drop-in sessions, flatmate finder events, a housing fair, and college talks. No bookings are required.

Contract Checking

Join us weekly from 2pm to 4pm in the Baroness Hale Law School Clinic for contract checking with our Student Housing Adviser and volunteer law students. Get expert advice on your rights and responsibilities before signing.

Drop-In Sessions

Our weekly drop-in sessions in the library provide a chance to discuss any concerns or questions about private housing in an informal setting.

Flatmate Finder Events

If you're looking for a flatmate or have a spare room, attend our social flatmate finder events. College staff will be available to help you connect with others.

College Talks

The Student Housing Adviser will host informative talks in your college, along with College staff and mentors who have experience in private housing. You can ask questions and have informal discussions afterward. If you miss your college talk, the same presentation will be available at the Housing Fair on Friday 15 November.

Housing Fair

Join us on Friday 15 November, in the Spring Lane Building from 11am to 3pm to meet housing providers and explore your options for next year.

For any questions, feel free to contact us at student-hub@york.ac.uk. We look forward to seeing you at our events.
