New students: Student loan information

Posted on 16 September 2024

Your student finance payments (if you've applied) will be made by your student finance provider shortly after your course begins, provided you have completed enrolment.

The Student Loans Company (SLC) does not start to release payments to student bank accounts until your course start date has passed. For the majority of new students this is usually 16 September 2024 but you can check your course start date on e:Vision

Please be aware that it can take five working days for funds to be paid into your bank account.

If you haven't received your payment

You can use the SLC customer portal to check the status of your application and related payments, or find out if the SLC are awaiting any further information from yourself or the University.

If you have still not received your payment by 23 September 2024 then:

  • Make sure that you have completed your enrolment on e:Vision
  • Check that you have completed the declaration part of your student finance application and that you have provided your bank details
  • Check that your details are correct on the University’s student records system by emailing student-records@york.ac.uk

If everything appears to be correct on the University student records system and you have completed and returned all relevant documentation to the Student Loan Company, you should contact the SLC.
