Design the new EDI Research Centre’s graphic and win a cash prize!

Posted on 29 April 2024

The top three designs will win cash awards.

The EDI Research Centre launches in June 2024 as a two-year Enhancing Research culture funded project. As a new initiative, it is being developed to:

  • Generate research culture change in relation to minority researcher issues (e.g. harassment; microaggression)
  • Improve EDI practice in relation to minority participant or minority student experiences (e.g. use of co-production or universal design for learning and understanding positionality)
  • Enhance EDI-related policy (e.g. development of research-based training programmes which either educate or help to reduce inequalities in research such as through decolonising research)
  • Increase EDI research capacity within research centres and departments across the University of York (e.g. through coordinating the embedding of EDI into research ethics processes)

We need your help

As a priority, we want to start by engaging with our students and aim to continue this co-production as we develop this space together.

We are therefore asking you, our students, to take part in a competition to design a graphic for the EDI Research Centre that describes: ‘what does EDI at the University of York mean to you?’

This graphic will symbolise a key part of the Centre’s visual identity and representation of our purpose. We accept designs from all students of varying skill levels. Please feel free to submit your drafts or completed designs!

Prizes

The winners of the competition will receive cash prizes for the following places:

  • First place prize: £100
  • Second place prize: £75
  • Third place prize: £50
