Consolidation Week 2024

Posted on 20 October 2024

Consolidation Week is a time to pause and take a break, catch up, reflect on your learning and plan your next steps.

Consolidation Week 2024 takes place 28 October - 1 November (in between Teaching Week 5 and 6).

Time to pause and rest

Sleep well to be well

From balancing your mood to improving your capacity for learning, getting enough sleep is important and you should aim for between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. Having trouble sleeping? There are lots of things you can do to help yourself. Find out how to get a good night’s rest.

Time to catch up

Complete the Academic Integrity Tutorial

All new students must complete our online Academic Integrity Tutorial. The tutorial and related tests will only take you 30 minutes so why not tick this one off your To Do List during Consolidation Week? You’ll find the tutorial on your VLE module list.

Check out our Skills Guides

Take time during Consolidation Week to find your way around our online Skills Guides: there’s videos, slides, and exercises on a range of skills topics, including advice on taking a break. There’s also our Subject Guides where you’ll find resources specific to your subject.

Academic Skills workshops

Why not register for one of the academic skills workshops being offered during Consolidation Week? You can join our online sessions on topics such as academic writing or critical thinking from anywhere. If you are in York then join our Adventures in Univyr City Game to try and obtain the scroll of success!

Academic skills one-to-one appointments

Consolidation Week could be an ideal time to get a one-to-one appointment to talk with your Faculty Librarian about searching for resources or referencing, or to book a 30 minute appointment with the Writing Centre, Study Coaching, or Maths Skills Centre.

Time to reflect and plan

Work through the Success at York Toolkit

Consolidation Week can be a time to think about what is important to you and what makes you thrive.

By working your way through videos, podcasts and activities, our Success at York Toolkit can help you reflect on what your time at university might all be for and help you plan for your future.

Come to a Careers drop-in session
