Important updates regarding our University bus services

First Bus has worked closely with us, taking into account the latest data and feedback from our monthly bus engagement meetings. As a result, several changes will be implemented to better meet the demands of our community.

Key Changes and New Services:

  • Service 67 is now U1 (no changes to the current route).
  • Service 66 is now U2 (no changes to the current route).
  • N67, also known as the CB1 Clubber Bus, is now UN1.
  • C1 is now U3 with an updated route. U3 will also include a new service to The Barbican in the City Centre via Heslington Lane and Fulford Road.
  • C2 will no longer operate.
  • U4 (a new service) will cover campus from Campus East and Designer Outlet. This will run one bus per hour on Saturday and Sunday daytimes, and has been timed to allow convenient travel to leisure and retail, enabling potential employment opportunities with buses timed to arrive before and depart after store opening / closing times.

The free zone will remain in place on all routes, extending from Campus East to Fulford Golf Club on U3 and U4. 

We’re also increasing the number of night buses, UN1. On Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be running two buses until 3.30am. On Wednesday and Friday, we’ll be running three buses until 3.30am. And we’re also continuing to run night buses during vacation times on Friday and Saturday night for those students remaining in York.

We understand that these changes may take some time to get used to, but we are confident that they will significantly improve our transport offerings.
