Over the last year while most staff and students have remained at home, work has continued around campus on our major developments creating some fantastic new spaces to learn, study, work or enjoy.
Phase one of our new student residences Anne Lister College has been constructed and is being finished off ready to welcome students from September.
Phase two is also well under way and the huge site is on its way to becoming home to hundreds of students and a fantastic entry point to Campus East.
The new York Institute for Safe Autonomy next to the Piazza building has also progressed rapidly and aims to be complete in October.
We have opened a temporary pop up park near Market Square for students and staff to relax, eat and buy lunch and generally chill in the York sunshine.
The Eleanor and Guy Dodson research facility in Biology is up and running with the technology already producing some excellent results.
Phase one of the Church Lane Building, the new home for York Management School and Social Policy and Social Work is finished.
Departments will be moving in over the coming weeks and we expect to welcome students to the fantastic teaching, cafe and social facilities in September.
Phase two will see Engineering occupy the annex before the next academic year.
And that’s just the start. YUSU and GSA have developed a number of outdoor social areas for students to enjoy their new found freedom in line with government guidelines.
