Show your support for the LGBT+ community by attending the rainbow flag raising on campus and join in the York Pride march.

York Pride 2019

York Pride raises awareness of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans (LGBT) issues throughout the year by promoting equality and diversity and working towards the elimination of discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.

Rainbow flag raising

The Vice Chancellor will be raising the rainbow flag to celebrate York Pride 2019. We would encourage all members of the University community to come along and show their support.

There will also be a student performance along with teas, coffees and cakes to help celebrate this event.

York Pride Parade

The University will again be taking part in this years York Pride Parade on Saturday 8 June under a joint staff and student University banner. The parade will meet outside the York Minster at 11.15am before commencing at 12pm and arriving at the Knavesmire for approx 1pm. In order to show collective support, all members of the University community are welcome to take part in this family friendly event and are encouraged to wear something blue to identify the University's presence within the parade. Free blue UoY t-shirts will be given away to the first 35 people attending the event.

York Minster to Knavesmire

After the parade there will be further celebration activities at the York racecourse, including a science-themed stall organised by the Department of Physics.
