Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week takes place 4-10 February 2019. As part of this, YUSU and York GSA are organising the Shine a Light on Sexual Violence campaign to raise awareness of sexual violence, to challenge inappropriate behaviour and to promote support available for students.

#lightupthenight march
Monday 4 February
Greg’s Place/ various
6pm
Leaving Greg's Place at 6pm, the march will extend around Campus East and West and end at Heslington Hall at 7.30pm, greeted by the new Academic Registrar, Dr Wayne Campbell, for light refreshments. There is a banner making session from 3pm, prior to the march.
Shine a light on Intersectionality group sessions
Covering how different groups of people experience sexual violence and harassment:

Join the Women's Rugby team for an evening of quizzing in aid of Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS). £2 per person, with a maximum of 6 per team. All proceeds go to charity.
Shine a Light Conference
Saturday 9 February
Piazza Building
12pm-5pm
An afternoon of workshops, a panel discussion and a fair, showcasing support available in York.
Throughout the campaign, a 'tree of hope' with be in the Library foyer. Help the tree grow by answering the question: what does respect mean to you?
