Our annual inter-university sports tournament with Lancaster University is on home soil this year. Roses 2019 takes place on 3-5 May and it promises to be a spectacular weekend.
Watch York compete in 146 fixtures involving over 50 sports, including football, netball, rugby, rowing, ultimate frisbee, canoe whitewater, ballroom dancing, and much more!
Can York reclaim the crown taken by Lancaster last year..? We haven't lost at home in over 30 years!
There's a host of activities off-the-pitch, too. Head to the Roses Festival, part of the opening ceremony on Friday 3 May 2019, with a special appearance from ex-Game of Thrones star, Mark Addy!
This free family-friendly event is for everyone, featuring an outdoor stage with live performances from local and student groups, funfair stalls and a spectacular fireworks display on the lake.
York Student Cinema is hosting an outdoor screening of Creed on Greg’s Place on Saturday 4 May 2019. Relax on deck-chairs (or bring your own blankets) and enjoy this free event open to everyone.
Roses will be raising money over the weekend for Student Minds and Beat. Student Minds empowers students and members of the university community to look after their own mental health, support others and create change. Beat is the UK's leading charity supporting anyone affected by eating disorders or other difficulties with food, weight and shape.
