Open Days are important dates in the University of York calendar. Bringing together staff, students and prospective students, Open Days showcase York's excellent teaching, research and facilities while welcoming thousands of visitors to our beautiful campus.
You can apply to work either Friday 29 June or Sunday 1 July, or both dates. You'll work from 8.30am to 4pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. You'll be required to attend a 1.5 hour paid training session from 2pm on Wednesday 27 June. Open Day stewards are paid £7.38 p/h, plus holiday pay, and are provided with a free University t-shirt.
Stewarding at York Open Days is a rewarding experience and every year we receive wonderful feedback from visitors about how much they appreciate being able to talk to current students. As well as allowing you to meet new people, this opportunity will benefit your personal and professional development by helping you to build various transferable skills such as problem-solving and communication.
We are looking for a high numbers of stewards to help on both days, so we encourage you to share the application form with your friends. Please note, applications to one-off Open Day steward positions run independently of the Student Ambassador scheme which reopens its applications in Autumn 2018.
If you have any questions, please get in touch at openday@york.ac.uk.
