New students: Student finance problems?
Your student finance payments (if you've applied) will be made by your student finance provider shortly after your course begins, provided you have completed enrolment. If you haven't received your loan, check:
- You've completed enrolment
- You've submitted your application and all the correct supporting evidence
- Your bank details are correct on your application – check your online account
- You've signed and returned your declaration form
- You’ve allowed five working days for the funds to be paid into your bank account.
If you have checked all this, contact the Student Loans Company.
If you are a home student and the first instalment of your loan or grant is delayed, you may be eligible for assistance funding.
If your student finance offer letter lists a different institution or course
Continuing funding for UK and EU undergraduate students
UK and EU students need to reapply for their student loan for each year of their studies. Applications usually open around Easter. Continuing students who do not have their applications automatically processed will be contacted and asked to apply online.
If your application is late, you may not receive your money at the start of term.
You need to re-enrol with the University at the start of each academic year. Continuing students should receive their funding 3-5 working days after the start of term. More information can be found on the enrolment pages.

Healthcare and social work bursaries
If you receive a bursary from the NHS, you must reapply for your bursary each academic year in order for payments to continue. NHS Student Bursaries will contact you to advise you when to reapply.

International students
Funding for US students
Students from the USA need to apply for a new US Direct Loan each academic year. Current US students should contact Student Financial Support when applying for a loan, changing their existing loan, or if there have been changes to their mode of study.
