Tuesday 31 August 2021, 3.00PM to 4.30pm
Speaker(s): Branwen Hide, Senior European Advisor at UK Research Office (UKRO)
The UK Research Office in Brussels provides expert information and guidance for universities applying to Horizon Europe.
The meeting focussed on implementing Horizon Europe, including the practical and operational aspects. Content covered an introduction to Horizon Europe in terms of what's new/what's changed/what's the same. There was also an opportunity to have your application questions answered. This was the first of several ‘visits’ over the coming academic year and this introductory session wass aimed at both research support staff and academic applicants.
The first calls for Horizon Europe are running, with a second round of deadlines in 2022. Horizon Europe includes individual fellowships for travel between EU Member States and the UK, doctoral training networks operating across European partners, large scale collaborative research applications, and European Research Council awards. Running up to 2027, this is the largest European research funding programme ever. Whilst many aspects are unchanged from Horizon 2020, there are some important new requirements and changes that applicants need to be aware of.
