Update on Open and New Calls in 2024

With the UK’s association to Horizon Europe now firmly in place and a recent increase to the 2024 budget of €1.4 billion (to €7.3 billion) 2024 is a perfect year to apply to Horizon Europe. 

What’s available?

The latest plans have been published via amendments to the 2023-2024 Work Programme.

Opportunities now include:

  • Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Actions and Widera calls including individual fellowships and doctoral networks.
  • a set of new Missions calls, including the New European Bauhaus Facility, (NEB) closing this autumn, and new cross-cutting calls. The EU Missions aim to contribute to solving core challenges facing Europe, and the NEB aims to bring the benefits of the European Green Deal into people’s daily lives and living spaces.
  • Cluster 2 will open a new set of European Cultural Heritage Cloud calls in June.
  • Cluster 4 updates include the delayed/new AI topics, with September deadlines. (Human 02 and 03 category topics).
  • Cluster 6 updates include a Farm2Fork topic, three topics under the Climate
  • Destination and the Euro Partnership Agric of Data in the Governance area.
  • Several clusters will implement experimental actions on attracting newcomers and young researchers.

Calls by the European Research Council (Starting, Consolidator, Advanced and Synergy Grants) and the European Innovation Council will also run again in 2024 and 2025. 

More call announcements are expected after the elections in the European Parliament.
