BioYorkshire is a key regional initiative for the University. It is a joint initiative between FERA, the University of York and Askham Bryan College, providing complementary expertise, technologies and infrastructure.

The partnership provides end-to-end support for the bio-economy, from world class research and innovation support, to scale-up and demonstration, through to commercialisation - all underpinned by training and skills provision, as well as business and entrepreneurial support.

As well as driving economic growth, BioYorkshire contributes to our regional ambitions to become the first carbon negative region in the UK.

BioYorkshire presents an opportunity to deliver key economic and environmental impacts – delivering on net zero targets, stimulating the development of the regional economy, contributing to the ‘green recovery’ and developing the UK’s science base – helping to make the UK a science super power, and building resilience in our economy.

Through BioYorkshire, innovation in the bio-economy will lead to economic growth in the Region and throughout the UK.
