Yorkshire Marathon: car park and road closures (17-21 October)

Don't get caught out by changes on campus due to the Yorkshire Marathon.

Campus West will be extremely busy from Thursday 17 October until Monday 21 October with limited access and restricted parking due to the Yorkshire Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 20 October.

Campus car park closures

Some car parks are closed from Thursday until Monday. You will need to remove your car in order to avoid it being locked in.

  • Most of Car Park North is closed between 7pm Thursday 17 October until 1pm on Monday 21 October
  • Car Park West is closed between 7pm Friday 18 October until 7am on Monday 21 October
  • Most of Car Park South is closed between 7pm Thursday 17 October until 7am on Monday 21 October

Staff and students who are working or studying over the weekend can use the Stables car park and the car park on Alcuin Way.

Student blue badge parking is available in the Roger Kirk side of Car Park West (in front of James College accommodation)

Campus East parking will not be affected.

Road closures

University Road is closed between 10am on Saturday 19 October and 11.59pm on Sunday 20 October

Heslington Lane has restricted access on Sunday 20 October between 6am until 6pm

There will be a one-way system in operation around Church Field, incorporating Church Lane, Innovation Way, the southernmost part of University Road and Field Lane.

Bus diversions

Many city centre roads and bus stops will be closed during the event. Most bus services will be on diversion, with delays expected on all routes. For more information, please see www.itravelyork.info.
