Earlier this year, the Sustainability Clinic was nominated for a prestigious International Green Gown Award for student engagement. Competing alongside leading institutions like Singapore Management University, McGill University, and ETH Zurich, we are proud to announce that the Clinic has been highly commended in this category.
Claire Hughes, Associate Dean for Teaching, Learning, and Students (Faculty of Sciences), and Interim Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching, Learning and Students, has shared her thoughts: "This recognition on an international stage demonstrates that the Sustainability Clinic is a highly innovative and impactful initiative. It's a key opportunity for our students at York to develop the skills and competencies needed to tackle sustainability challenges. Huge well done to the many colleagues from across the University who contributed towards making the Clinic such a success!"
What the judges said: "The University of York’s Sustainability Clinic is an outstanding example of student engagement in sustainability. The project’s integration into the curriculum and its focus on community impact make it a model for other institutions. This capacity-building project empowers students through involving them in real world sustainability projects that have a tangible benefit to the environment and wider society."
Congratulations to everyone involved in making the Sustainability Clinic a success so far. This achievement demonstrates the incredible impact that community-engaged learning can have on both students and society.
