Matt takes up the role from 2 January 2024.
As Deputy Dean, Matt has played a key role in the ongoing development of the Medical School - supporting the development of its medical education, research, and operations.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Una for her exceptional leadership of the Medical School. During her time as Dean she led the School’s bid for expansion that resulted in the School being awarded an additional 90 undergraduate medicine places - from 130 home places in 2017 to 220 in 2019.
She has helped to build an active community of researchers across Hull and York who are focused on scientific discovery and clinical and applied health research, creating an environment in which they are supported to thrive. And she has continued, through her own research, work to reduce inequalities in cancer outcomes in Yorkshire through the TRANSFORMing Cancer Outcomes in Yorkshire programme - a £4.9m programme funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research. In addition, Una continues to play an active role in our local community through her role as a GP.
We very much look forward to working with Matt to continue to build on the success of the School.
Best wishes
Charlie Jeffery and Dave Petley
