Disruptive works on campus
Posted on 21 November 2022
Be prepared for some disruption due to accommodation improvements, roadworks and a new campus nursery
Footpath and road closure
Footpath
The footpath that runs from University Road to the car park at the rear of Derwent College will be closed to allow access for the accommodation improvements in Derwent P block. Pedestrians should use the main pavement next to University Road as an alternative. It is anticipated the works will take several weeks and possibly until the end of the year to complete.
Road closure
On campus east, works near the Energy Centre will require traffic management to be in place on Kimberlow Lane so sections of the road can be worked on. The road will remain open at all times and we apologise for any delays this may cause. It is anticipated the works will take several weeks and possibly until the end of the year to complete.
Work starts on new nursery
Work will start this week on the site of the new nursery on campus east. The new nursery has been in the planning for several years and aims to be open in September/October 2023 welcoming around 90 children to a fantastic new modern facility opposite York Sports Village.
Find out more about the new nursery project.
The footpath adjacent to the site will be narrowed to allow for the hoarding to be erected. Whilst the pavement will still be usable, an alternative route has been put in place which is wider and limits access across the entrance to the site which will be busy with construction traffic. We apologise for the additional time this will add to any journeys on foot.
