Mental health is a significant societal challenge, and the Covid-19 pandemic is likely to have exacerbated the scale of the challenge.
The Mentally Fit York fund is used to improve mental health and wellbeing in many forms, reaching out from the University to the city's communities and beyond by supporting on-the-ground initiatives and the latest groundbreaking research.
The Great York Walk 2019 was the very first event launched by the University in support of the fund. The incredible 89 walkers who took part in the 25 mile walking event on 12 October 2019 raised £30,059.93.
This year, plans for the second Great York Walk have changed. Instead, York Unlimited are encouraging walkers to take part in The Short Walk - an adapted challenge to raise money for the fund. You can join in by walking 25 miles over 7, 14 or 25 days.
