Snow Scene Heslington Hall

Seasonal Advice

As the cold weather approaches, please be mindful of our recent advice regarding heaters in the latest Safety Alert.

Take care travelling around campus in adverse weather. It is extremely dangerous to go on the ice if the lake is frozen - please report anyone on the frozen lake to Campus Safety.

Fire Safety Update

All buildings on campus are designed with fire safety in mind. Most staff will be able to evacuate University buildings safely unaided using the existing fire escape routes and doors. These are detailed in the building GEEPs. And all staff should familiarise themselves with the GEEPs for the buildings they work in

However if you need practical assistance to exit buildings under emergency circumstances, you may need a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) to ensure you have the necessary assistance in place. You can find out more by following the links or contact the WHSO Fire Safety team.

Fire warden training is now available via the LMS.

Health and Safety training

Fire safety training across the University currently has a completion rate of 80%. DSE training currently has a completion rate of 87%. Both of these training courses are mandatory with a target completion rate of over 90%.

If you haven't completed your training then please do so as soon as possible.
