I joined the PhD programme at the Department of Sociology in January 2023 under the supervision of Dr Darren Reed and Dr Clare Jackson.
My research looks at online communication among queer men and non-binary people; this includes examining how sexual inequalities, the relationship to technology, and the design of digital apps contribute to digital intimacies. I primarily work with phenomenological perspectives to explore how self-representations and identities are understood across different contexts.
My project Queer Technosexuality explores the intersection between digital technologies, gender, sexuality and identity. I examine the use of digital platforms, sexual expression, and the socio-economic factors that construct online identities in queer interactions. I work with people who identify as men and non-binary who live in the United Kingdom (UK). The project implements mixed methods, using a statistical and qualitative approach.
I am a Graduate Teaching Assistant on the department’s modules ‘Cultivating a Sociological Imagination’ and ‘Understanding Self in Society’.
