Biography

  • PhD Sociology, University of York (in progress)
  • Master of Research in Sociology, University of Portsmouth
  • BA (Hons) Fashion Photography, London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London

I joined the Sociology department at the University of York in 2023 to pursue my doctorate under the guidance of Professor Ellen Annandale and Dr. Emily Nicholls. My research focuses on the intersection of endometriosis, infertility, and involuntary childlessness.

During my time at York, I worked as a Research Assistant on a project investigating the barriers to consuming meat-free products. In addition to my research activities, I serve as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Cultivate, a feminist journal within the Centre for Women’s Studies at York.

Before joining York, I completed my MRes in Sociology at Portsmouth University, where my research explored the transitional identities of female bikini bodybuilders. My earlier career began with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Photography from The London College of Fashion, which led to a rewarding career as a womenswear buyer. This background fuels my interest in blending creative and academic approaches, utilising creative methods in my research.

My research interests include embodiment, gender and identity, chronic illness and reproductive choices.
