Jenny Gaskell is an artist based in Manchester. She makes work which is a combination of performance and participation. Jenny is interested in connection, art that happens in everyday places and creating scenarios for people to take agency.
Her work involves hosting, listening, writing, gathering people together and thinking about how to hold various types of grief. It is often intimate, tender, funny, conceptual and gives reverence to everyday interactions. She once spent 18 months working for a non-religious church and she is a trained funeral celebrant, practicing with award winning independent funeral service - Natural Endings.
Jenny has made work in parks, parties, b&b bedrooms, trams and snooker halls. Her work has been supported by Art B&B, Barbican Centre, Contact, HOME, The Lowry, Leftcoast, Lancaster Arts, LADA, People’s History Museum, Manchester International Festival, a-n and Arts Council England.
