Radical Mothering in Europe: Everyday Forms of Resistance (26 April 2024) - Call for Papers

The Radical Mothering Research Collective is organising an inaugural conference on radical mothering in Europe at the University of Warwick.

Co-founded by Sarah Werner Boada (University of Warwick) and Patricia Hamilton (University of York), the collective examines the relationship between mothering (which can be performed by people of various gender identities) and the colonial and neoliberal logics that define contemporary Europe.

Call for papers

The Collective welcomes academic, creative and/or activist contributions, rooted in critiques of European modernity, on topics such as (but not limited to):

anti-racist mothering
queer mothering
pregnancy, childbirth, chest/breastfeeding and other embodied experiences of mothering
collective, community and other-mothering
mothering and environmental justice
mothering and police or prison abolition
mothering and assisted reproductive technologies

Selected papers will be invited to contribute to an edited volume after the conference.

If you'd like to contribute, please send the following to radicalmothering@warwick.ac.uk by Friday 15 December 2023:

a short (150 word) biography
a 300-word abstract
information about your participation (there are limited online spaces)
accessibility requirements (childcare, BSL interpretation and other accommodations are available)
