Programme grants for applied research - competition 32 to open soon

Posted on 17 December 2019

The National Institute for Health Research, in partnership with Versus Arthritis, invites proposals for its programme grants for applied research.

Maximum award: £2,500,000
Closing date: 1 April 2020 (recurring)

This opportunity will be available soon. The next call is expected to open on 6 February and close on 1 April 2020.

These programme grants, funded buy the Department of Health and Social Care including NIHR, GB and other funders, support collaborative, multidisciplinary programmes of applied research to solve health and social care challenges. The aim is to deliver research findings that will lead to clear and identifiable patient benefits, typically through promotion of health, prevention of ill health and optimal disease management. Grants enable NHS and academic partners to work together to tackle health and social care problems. Research must be in an area of priority or need for the NHS and the social care sector of the Department of Health and Social Care, with particular emphasis on health and social care areas that cause significant burden, where other research funders may not be focused, or where insufficient funding is available.
