Criminal Women

Thursday 25 January 2018, 1.00PM to 15:00

Speaker(s): Dr Tammi Walker, Holly King, Professor Maggie O'Neill, Sharon Grace

In 1985 Pat Carlen published a landmark book made up of four biographical accounts written with four women - Chris Tchaikovsky, Diana Christina, Jenny Hicks and Josie O'Dwyer. "Criminal Women tells the stories of four women who, in attempting to become women of their own making, became deeply involved in crime". In this CrimNet seminar, speakers will discuss the experiences and stories of Criminal Women in the 21st century, based upon empirical research and a long history of conducting research that generates better understanding of the issues for women, including what has changed and what has stayed the same; and importantly what can be done and what this means for feminist criminology.
