Professor Peter Ball (York Management School) and Professor Thomas Cornelissen (Economics & Related Studies) will each present recent research findings. Using different research methods and disciplinary perspectives, Peter will unpick the productivity narrative by exploring firm and employee level understandings and perceptions of productivity; including whether there is a perceived productivity problem, and how understandings do (or do not) align with the Government's Industrial Strategy.
Thomas will present his work on apprenticeships and the potential knowledge spillover effects to other employees, the implications for improving employers' training cultures and ultimately productivity. Following the short presentations there will be an opportunity for discussion and informal networking.
Further events and meetings are planned, including a 'Good Work: Caring Work' event early in the autumn. If you have a research interest within the broad theme of Good Work and an idea for a seminar or would like to contribute, please get in touch (contact Helen.Wells@york.ac.uk)
