Global Midwifery - celebrating journeys

Wednesday 7 June 2017, 9.00AM to 4.30pm

Speaker(s): Dr Joy Kemp, Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Global Professional Advisor.

An inspirational and engaging one day event for qualified midwifery staff working within Yorkshire and the Humber. The day will explore midwifery in today's global environment. Using the theme of journeys, the day will consider current contexts for midwifery and maternity care, provided in local settings and across the globe. It will include reflections on professional journeys and engagement, as well as the journeys women take in their quest to receive high quality, respectful midwifery care.

The key note speaker is Dr Joy Kemp, Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Global Professional Advisor. Other speakers on the day will include:

  • Sue Deakin - midwife and international volunteer
  • Anu Pillay - Senior Gender Advisor for the United Nations
  • Dr Janaka Jayawickrama - programme leader for MSc International Humanitarian Affairs
  • Representation from the Refugee Council including women volunteers.

The day aims to support learning, professional reflection, engagement and networking in a collaborative environment.
