Have you seen the No more marking website? It is one example of new approaches to assessment that have emerged over the last few years. These approaches have been developed in part as a response to the increasing demands of marking student assignments, often within shorter timescales.
We were recently invited by the Royal Society of Chemistry to review the literature on recent developments in assessment. The review had two aims. The first was to pull together the literature on what was currently happening in Chemistry at A-level. The second was to looks at developments in assessment in other areas, with a view to identifying strategies that might be used in chemistry.
Our review identified a number of interesting developments in assessment, some of which could be used in a variety of disciplines, and we would like to share these with you.
