Wednesday 25 March 2015, 12.00PM to 2.00pm
This interdisciplinary networking event is open to any researcher from any department at the University who has a current or potential interest in the overlap between health and creativity. Both terms are open to any interpretation the attendees choose – health could include disability, mental health, physical health and wellbeing; creativity could include both the generation of things that are novel, imaginative, artistic and/or meaningful and the cognitive and technical/technological processes involved in this.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- briefly introduce themselves and their research ideas
- informally chat over a delicious Italian buffet lunch!
- collectively consider their findings and next steps
The following is by no means prescriptive or exhaustive:
- portrayals and representations of health
- health inspiring new art/music/design/theatre/creative writing etc.
- how creative outlets can improve health/wellbeing
- how creative expression is influenced by health
- how creativity can inspire public engagement with health
We have noticed related interest across multiple departments and some exciting activity bridging these two areas. In addition, 'Health and Wellbeing' and 'Creativity' constitute two of the seven new University Research Themes, meaning they are priority areas for future research development. The event will help to gauge the level of interest across the University and to determine if additional support could develop capability further.
Please sign up on this Google Spreadsheet if you would like to attend. Please also add your name if you are unable to attend this time but wish to express your interest in the initiative and we will keep you aware of developments and further opportunities to participate.
