We are pleased to announce that the first Health and Conflict seminar will be held on Monday 13th January from 4pm onwards in the Training Room in the new Research Centre for the Social Sciences (which is on the Science Park opposite the Innovation Centre).
For this first seminar we have three members of the group who have kindly agreed to present their research interests for around half an hour each:
Frank Hardman (Institute for Effective Education/ IEE) - 'What role can education play in the building of peace in conflict affected countries?'
Amanda Mason-Jones (Health Sciences) - 'Intimate partner violence in a high conflict community'
Sultan Barakat (Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit/ PRDU) - 'Bridging the Gap - health provision in the aftermath of conflict'
There will then be twenty minutes or so to ask the speakers questions as a panel before the opportunity for more informal conversations over food and wine.
We very much hope you will be able to come along to what should be a fascinating session - please put the date in your diaries! Please: if you are able to come, could you put your name and attendance down on the following Doodle poll (https://uniofyork.doodle.com/2qf9mcnttnbiqc33) so we can have an idea of numbers for the catering.
We also intend to open the seminar out to the wider University research community and please feel free to invite any external colleagues who you think might be interested. We will be arranging another seminar for March, further details to follow.
This seminar is co-hosted by C2D2 and the Research Centre for Social Sciences.
Location: Research Centre for Social Sciences, York
