Why I continued studying
I decided during my 3rd year at York that I wanted to become a Chartered Occupational Psychologist in the future. Studying for the MSc in Occupational Psychology is the first step towards this career.
What my course is like
Occupational Psychology is the application of psychological principles to the workplace. This involves a wide range of areas such as selection and assessment, leadership, engagement, wellbeing and organisational culture and design.
What I like most
I love how engaging and career focused the course is. All modules are taught through interactive seminars, and there are only 30 students on the course. We also have lots of guest speakers who work in the field and tailored careers workshops. Next year we will have the opportunity to undertake our research projects within a real organisation.
My advice to students considering further study
Studying for a Masters is much more intense than at Undergraduate level, so be sure that it's what you want to do and that it will really help you in your career.
Contacting me
If you are considering the Occupational Psychology route I'd be really happy to have a chat with you about it, so feel free to email me.
