I am currently based in Canberra supporting Australia’s Foreign and Trade Ministers
Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
I loved international relations and always wanted to be a diplomat
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
No - it is where I wanted to work when I was studying
Describe your most memorable day at work
I have had many, mainly during my overseas postings in India (New Delhi) and in the French Pacific (Noumea) as well as during shorter deployments in West Africa
Are there any challenges associated with your job?
I switch jobs and countries on average every three years
What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?
I played on the basketball team which was a great opportunity to meet people studying a range of subjects
What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?
The world is your oyster. Take every opportunity you get - you can always walk away if it is not your thing.
