I am a digital performance “challenge junkie” who is addicted to building teams that can successfully master tools, operations and strategies.
Briefly describe the organisation you work for
Rakuten is Japanese company owning more than 70 businesses based in 29 countries, ranging from Tokyo to Silicon Valley, Sao Paulo to Bangalore. Each of these companies is positioned to strengthen our relationship with our members and merchants, while also providing strategic benefits to other business units. Though our companies are based in a wide range of businesses-- from communications and media to e-commerce and finance-- they all share one focus, exceeding customer expectations in every transaction.

Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
I am a digital performance “challenge junkie” who is addicted to building teams that can successfully master tools, operations and strategies to optimise ecommerce campaigns via innovative tech and data. Rakuten offered me an environement to do so.
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
Yes. Though my education equipped me with the relevant skillset.

The first time I got nominated as employee of the month globally
Are there any challenges associated with your job?
Its highly fast paced and can become overwhelming

Innovative, fast paced, global, open and fun!
What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?
I worked out a lot and continue to do so. I also engaged in numerous social events.
What would you like to do next with your career?
Make sure I never get bored always challange myself.
What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?
You will only be good in things you are passionate about. Its cheesy, but true.
