Briefly describe the organisation you work for
LOCALiQ is one of the UK’s fastest growing digital marketing agencies, we combine our best in class marketing technology, the data insights this provides, with our huge audience reach.
What do you do?
I work maintain, manage and optimise clients digital marketing efforts to ensure that they are receiving the best ROI for their desired outcome.
Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?
Working in retail as well as my degree and dissertation choice really showed me the power of marketing and how impactful well marketed products can be.
Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?
I didn't have an ideal end goal in mind, when I went to uni I knew what I enjoyed doing. My job has allowed me to continue this learning and growth.
Describe your most memorable day at work
As someone who suffers from anxiety, being recognised and appreciate at our Christmas party was fantastic; it showed me that my colleagues want to spend time with me outside of work and they enjoy my company.
Are there any challenges associated with your job?
I think initially working in such a client facing role can be a bit daunting, however working in such a team oriented environment really helps.
What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?
Working as a Student Ambassador and Course Rep really allowed me to build the better communication skills that I needed in order to be successful in interview situation.
What would you like to do next with your career?
I really enjoy my job, hopefully I would like to progress further within an agency based environment.
What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?
Don't stress. Just use your time at University to explore things you think you might enjoy. Ultimately you want to be in a position where you have exposed yourself enough to know what industry you want to go into and have worked on enough "stuff" that you'd be a competitive applicant.
